Myers-Briggs Type Indicator® (MBTI®)
The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) is a process intended to measure how people perceive the world and make decisions. Everyone has preferences in the way they interpret their experiences. These inclinations impact our interests, needs, values, and motivation. Understanding your preferences and those around you helps clarify seemingly random variations in behavior into a deeper understanding of yourself and others. The result is improved personal interactions and stronger, balanced relationships.
The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator® (MBTI®) assessment has helped millions of people worldwide gain insights about themselves and how they interact with others—and improve how they communicate, learn, and work. It provides a powerful framework for building better relationships, driving positive change, harnessing innovation, and achieving excellence. The MBTI assessment makes Carl Jung’s theory of psychological type both understandable and highly practical by helping individuals identify their preferences in four areas:
Favorite world: Do you prefer to focus on the outer world or on your own inner world? This is called Extraversion (E) or Introversion (I).
Information: Do you prefer to focus on the basic information you take in or do you prefer to interpret and add meaning? This is called Sensing (S) or Intuition (N).
Decisions: When making decisions, do you prefer to first look at logic and consistency or first look at the people and special circumstances? This is called Thinking (T) or Feeling (F).
Structure: In dealing with the outside world, do you prefer to get things decided or do you prefer to stay open to new information and options? This is called Judging (J) or Perceiving (P).
The combination of your preferences in each of these areas reveals your personality type.
Understanding your preferences and those around you helps:
- Clarify seemingly random variations in behavior
- Improve personal interactions
- Enable stronger, balanced relationships.
- Develop a deeper understanding of yourself and others
